I have been messing with the Chrome web apps from their store, and have found some useful, and most are just icons to the normal webpage. The only advantage to that is that it shows up on the "New Tab" page with quick access to that page, but couldn't you just have it in your bookmark bar? So it's pretty much pointless in every way. I have found no use whatsoever for this. The only useful apps are the extensions, which aren't even apps at all. Still though, Chrome is a great browser and if you want to form your own opinion, check out the Web Store.
