Chrome is OS'ified and gains "apps"

Google has rolled out a new version of its Chrome extension gallery, calling it the Chrome "Web App Store" obviously modeling Apple's App Store. There will be both free and paid applications, again, just like the App Store, but for Chrome. Also, developers can test drive a Chrome OS laptop, which runs Google's operating system that is web-based with a Chrome-like interface. You can check out the web page for it at http://www.google.com/chromeos/

It looks like a cool idea to me, but what do you think?
