Well I hope everyone had a good holiday and I wish you all a happy New Year. With January coming up, a new iPad should be announced late next month. Many improvements and additions will be made, and here are my expectations:
A Front-Facing Camera
Apple has really been pushing FaceTime since it's introduction on the iPhone 4. It's since been added to the iPod touch, and the Mac. FaceTime for iPad is almost guaranteed to happen. What about a rear camera? I don't think it'll happen. It might, but it's not likely. Who's going to use such a big device as a digital camera? Think about it, the iPad is supposed to be like a computer. Computers don't have cameras in the back of them to act like a digital camera. The have front-facing cameras for video chatting.
A Second Dock-Connector
A second 30-pin Dock-Connecter on the side of the iPad 2 would be very convenient. It would mean you could use that Keyboard dock in landscape mode or even charge out of the side and clear up the bottom. You could use the Camera Connection Kit could be used while charging.
External Changes
Knowing Apple, we know the like things thin and light. The iPad is already crazily thin at just a half an inch thick at it's thickest point, but Apple will definitely make the device thinner.
Internal Improvements
Again, Apple always tries to make their devices as fast and efficient as possible. I think we can expect 512MB of RAM and possibly a faster version of the Apple A4.
Gyroscope
The iPad is the only iDevice that doesn't have a gyroscope, so this one is almost a given.
So those are what I expect for January, but you might have a different opinion and I'd be happy to hear those.

New Logo
I have updated the site with a new logo, which you can see in the header. I hope you like it.
How to Install the New Cydia
A new Cydia was released for compatibility on iOS 4.2 a little while ago. There is no review system or any of those often-requested features, but it is faster, more reliable, and better in almost every way. It also has a new icon, removing the icon shadow from the old one, giving it a better, more professional look. Keep in mind that users jailbroken on iOS 4.2.x already have this improved Cydia. For jailbroken devices running iOS 4.0 or 4.1, follow the simple steps below to get it.
Step 1:
Open up Cydia, go to Manage>Sources>Edit>Add and add repo.ig33kstas.com then tap Add Source
Step 2:
Go to Changes, and you'll see an upgrade available. Tap Upgrade in the top-right corner and Confirm, and you have the new Cydia once you reboot.
That was simple, right? Well I hope you enjoy this new Cydia. Happy jailbreaking.

Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak
As promised, the iPhone Dev Team released their "backup plan," a beta of redsn0w (Mac only at the moment) bringing an untethered jailbreak to iPhone 4s, iPod touch 4Gs, and iPads running iOS 4.2.1 before Christmas. It requires you to have SHSH blobs saved for iOS 4.2b3 and access to the ISPW for it, which only devs are supposed to have. If you have a copy of the 4.2b3 firmware, then follow this guide on Redmond Pie to enjoy your untethered jailbreak.

Merry Christmas!
I'd like to wish a Merry Christmas to everyone. This may seem a bit early to my U.S. readers, but it's probably Christmas in other parts of the world. Anyway, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and enjoy the rest of 2010

Woohoo!
Well today's post isn't about news or my opinion on some crappy web store (*cough*Google*cough*). Instead, it's to tell you that I won a promo code for the AppAdvice App! If you don't know, AppAdvice is a news site covering Apple products. They have an app in the App Store for $1.99. It's a great app and well done. Recently it got an update and AppAdvice was giving away 40 Promo Codes for it. I entered, and won. I saved myself $2 there.

Mac App Store to Open Jan 6
Apple has announced that the Mac App Store will open on January 6th, 2011. It will allow users to download apps like they can on the iPhone and iPad. This means that PC fanboys (and fangirls) saying that Windows has more apps and games can shut up. I am excited and can't wait for the 6th.

New Theme
I have updated the theme of this site to something a little more simple. I hope you like it. Post your thoughts in the comments below.
Update on Chrome "Apps"
I have been messing with the Chrome web apps from their store, and have found some useful, and most are just icons to the normal webpage. The only advantage to that is that it shows up on the "New Tab" page with quick access to that page, but couldn't you just have it in your bookmark bar? So it's pretty much pointless in every way. I have found no use whatsoever for this. The only useful apps are the extensions, which aren't even apps at all. Still though, Chrome is a great browser and if you want to form your own opinion, check out the Web Store.

Cydia for Mac
A Cydia for the Mac OS has been announced by Saurik, the creator of Cydia on the iPhone. It will contain Tweaks for the Mac instead of Apps, which Saurik says should go on the Mac App Store or be distributed from their personal web site. It will probably launch around the same time the Mac App Store does.

Chrome is OS'ified and gains "apps"
Google has rolled out a new version of its Chrome extension gallery, calling it the Chrome "Web App Store" obviously modeling Apple's App Store. There will be both free and paid applications, again, just like the App Store, but for Chrome. Also, developers can test drive a Chrome OS laptop, which runs Google's operating system that is web-based with a Chrome-like interface. You can check out the web page for it at http://www.google.com/chromeos/
It looks like a cool idea to me, but what do you think?
